• A. Perry backs campaign slamming local authority fire door checks

        • Hinge and ironmongery supplier, A Perry, has spoken out to support this week’s Fire Door Safety Week (21st – 27th September) in the wake of industry findings that 60 per cent of local authorities delayed fire door maintenance, replacement and inspection programmes in the first half of 2020.

With 53 per cent of local authorities citing COVID-19 as a reason for the delays, 9,954 properties have been affected and only 4 per cent of local authorities plan to begin postponed works by 2021.

Established in 2013, the #FDSW industry campaign is run by The British Woodworking Federation supported by the BWF Fire Door Alliance and works to highlight the life-saving importance of fire doors and good fire safety practice.

Steve Perry, spokesperson for A Perry said, “whilst the pandemic has forced a number of issues out of the spotlight, with more people working from home, fire doors play an even more crucial life-saving role at the moment and more attention must be brought to this issue.

“Fire Door Safety Week is helping to highlight these concerning statistics and encourage local authorities to minimise these potentially life-threatening delays.  For that needing advice on fire door safety compliance, we are always glad to assist.”

Perry Shield delivers a complete CE Marked and CERTIFIRE Approved range of fire door fittings and ironmongery for architects, designers, manufacturers, builders and installers.  Each product is available in a range of finishes and with a fire rating of either 30, 60 or 120 minutes.
