Global Ethical Finance Forum to take place in September

This September, the Global Ethical Finance Forum (GEFF) will initiate the inaugural conversation within the broader ethical finance industry. 400 key asset managers, institutional investors, academics, regulators and government officials from Europe, North America, the Middle East, East Asia and Africa will convene at the very first ethical finance event of its kind.

GEFF will serve as a two-day forum and has already been lauded by international media as the most comprehensive event on ethical finance, covering topics such as re-establishing the role of the financial system in supporting economic growth, the potential scope and avenues for integration of virtues and ethics in the financial sector, and the opportunity that sustainable investment presents for long term investors. The most noteworthy plenary sessions will discuss the opportunity and strategies for responsible finance to take a more active role in shaping the global financial system.

The Forum will also promote the convergence of the various disconnected segments of the ethical finance industry through an action oriented dialogue between the socially responsible investing (SRI) sector, United Nations Principles for Responsible Investing (UNPRI) signatories, Islamic finance, faith based investing and other Responsible Financial services sectors. To trace back to the history of where ethics in finance and business had started and the role it should play in today's context, the forum introduces a plenary session with an established economic historian, Professor Charles Munn, who will educate the audience on his views about the Development of Moral Finance and how ethics paved its way into mainstream finance. He will also elucidate on the future role of ethical finance and its significance in the financial system.

The second day of the Forum will culminate in an exclusive one-on-one conversation with the 'incorruptible' former Central Bank Governor of Nigeria, His Royal Highness Emir Muhammad Sanusi II, Emir of Kano who will share his views on the future of the global financial system and what needs to be done to ensure its continued stability. A principled global leader who is credited to strengthening the financial system of Africa's largest economy while maintaining his firm stance against vested interests, HRH Emir Sanusi was the recipient of the prestigious "Central Bank Governor Award" by The Banker in 2011.

GEFF will take place on the 1st and 2nd of September at the historic Balmoral Hotel in central Edinburgh, one of Europe's cultural & literary capitals.
