Brother has partnered with Fluke Networks’ LinkWare Live Affiliates Programme to produce iLink&Label, a mobile application for iPhone which integrates Fluke Networks LinkWare Live with Brother’s PT-E550WVP labelling device for network installers. Streamlining cable labelling and network testing, the app creates a more efficient process which reduces costs and errors too.
Connecting the office to the fieldworker, Fluke Networks LinkWare Live allows the project manager or system designer planning the network infrastructure to create cable IDs in LinkWare Live’s cloud-based system. To print cable identifying labels, the contractor can then download and transfer the label identifiers directly into the PT-E550WVP label printer’s database from their smartphone or tablet via Brother’s free iLink&Label app and the product’s Wi-Fi connection. The contractor also downloads the same identifiers and test settings into the Fluke Versiv tester, meaning data is entered only once and stored in a central location.
Once downloaded, the network installer uses the P-touch device to select the required cable identifiers in the cloud and then print without connecting to a computer. This solution has been introduced in response to the ongoing challenges facing field installation contractors.
Robert Luijten, Field Marketing Manager for Fluke Networks said, “Brother is an ideal model for the companies Fluke Networks is looking to collaborate with as part of the LinkWare Live Affiliates Programme and create innovative products integrated with the LinkWare Live cloud platform. With over seven million results uploaded to date, installers worldwide are embracing LinkWare Live to transform how they work. Using integrated applications like Brother’s iLink&Label gives them the tools they have been seeking to increase time savings, improve productivity, and derive more profit from projects.”
Ioana Nitu, Product Manager at Brother UK added, “our affiliation with Fluke Networks means we can offer contractors a solution that will have a positive impact on their business. The app really is a game changer as it makes the cabling process more efficient, accurate and cost-effective.
“The solution is a significant technical development that provides the foundation for an effective cable management programme for the future which addresses the challenges faced by field installation contractors.”
The PT-E550WVP is ideal for large, complex network and data centre installations. The model has been developed with industry standards in mind, and offers different label widths to fit cables, patch panels and faceplates. The device uses TZe laminated tapes and HSe heat shrink tubes with resistance to water, abrasion, chemicals and temperature extremes.
