Canon Launches new A1+ compact desktop printer with A4 scanner

Canon has launched the imagePROGRAF TC-20M, a full-colour (CMYK), large-format, desktop printer which is equipped with an A4 flatbed scanner.

The printer enables users to create large format copies for a wide variety of applications without a computer - such as promotional posters for retail stores and restaurants, educational materials for schools, and customised wrapping paper, up to A1+ in size.

The device is also suitable for creating technical construction, design, and survey drawings at home or small offices, making it relevant for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) markets.

In addition to usual network printing capabilities, users can preview JPEG and PDF documents, scan, copy, and enlarge A4-sized originals, plus other paper sizes. Jobs can also be printed directly through the printer control panel, via a USB flash drive.

Jennifer Kolloczek, EMEA Planning, Marketing & Innovation Senior Director, Production Print at Canon Europe said, “traditionally, large-format prints are an application that a lot of retail, educational, and hospitality organisations outsourced at times. However, there is a growing need for occasional print runs and these are likely to be quicker, less costly, and more convenient to print on-site. The imagePROGRAF TC-20M is designed with ease of use and space-saving in mind – it incorporates a flatbed scanner, USB printing support as well as wireless printing through a mobile app. This eliminates the need for a computer, allowing users to perform print and copy functions directly through the operator panel.”

The space-saving design of the imagePROGRAF TC-20M allows users to easily perform all print-related operations from the front of the unit, including the paper setting (roll or sheet) and loading, ink refilling, and collecting prints. Large-capacity, 70 ml ink tanks result in less frequent refilling of the four colour (CMYK) pigment inks, which produce high-quality, colourful designs. The different shapes and colour of the inlets on each tank prevent refilling with the wrong colour.

The printer supports rolls of paper up to A1+ wide and is equipped with a standard auto sheet feeder compatible with A3 and A4 paper. Rolls and sheets of paper can be loaded at the same time, allowing users to copy and print various sizes on one machine by selecting the chosen paper source on the operator panel. Users are also able to repeatedly copy a single document on a roll of paper of up to A1+in size.

With its compact body, measuring 968 mm wide by 525 mm deep by 245 mm high, and space-saving design, the imagePROGRAF TC-20M can be placed on a shelf or desk and the optional basket ‘BU-06’ can be used to catch printed materials.
