DURABLE becomes certified carbon-neutral company

DURABLE is now certified carbon neutral. To achieve this, the manufacturer of products and solutions for modern workplaces teamed up with ClimatePartner to determine the company’s corporate carbon footprint (CCF).

DURABLE consistently offset its emissions by supporting climate protection projects in ClimatePartner’s portfolio. These climate protection projects have proved to reduce, avoid, or remove CO2 from the atmosphere. Furthermore, they promote sustainable development in countries of the southern hemisphere. The projects are certified, inspected according to strict criteria and controlled regularly to ensure that they do indeed have a protective effect on the climate.

Rolf Schifferens, DURABLE’s Managing Director said, “as a company, we have a great responsibility towards our customers, partners, employees, and the environment. Therefore, we have taken the first key step by calculating our carbon footprint.

“Based on a wide range of data, ClimatePartner calculated our footprint at 5,242 t and earned the ‘Carbon-Neutral Company’ accreditation. DURABLE’s aim is to ensure greater transparency and carbon neutrality can be tracked using the ID number in the ClimatePartner tracking app.”

Corporate carbon neutrality includes both direct emissions, which are produced by the company itself (e.g. generation of electricity and heat, vehicle fleet and fugitive gases), and indirect emissions, which arise as a result of purchased energy, business travel and employees commuting to work. However, other indirect emissions that are produced outside the company in the manufacturing of raw materials and intermediate products, external logistics, the use and disposal of products, or other processes play no role in the calculation of carbon neutrality.

ClimatePartner provides climate protection solutions for companies. The company provides individual consulting services using a cloud-based software – the only one of its kind on the market. Clients can use it to calculate, reduce and offset their carbon emissions. This enables products and companies to achieve carbon neutrality, which is certified by the ClimatePartner seal.

ClimatePartner offers a range of climate protection projects in different regions, using different technologies and standards. Another particularly important aspect of the projects is their impact on a social level. The UN’s 17 SDGs (sustainable development goals) are used as a benchmark for these projects.
