Lease Group achieves Carbon Neutral status

This month, hove-based technology finance provider, Lease Group, has achieved carbon neutral status, following the calculation and offsetting of its total carbon emissions as a business.

Using reporting and methods recognized within the ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol Emissions Standard, Lease Group became certified Carbon Neutral by an external organisation Carbon Neutral Business. The credit broker appointed Carbon Neutral Britain to manage the project and ensure the carbon neutral claim is both robust and accurate.

The technology financier, which works with over 850 independent technology suppliers, set out its plan to reach carbon neutrality at the beginning of the year. During the first half of 2022, the company conducted industry-standard practices to calculate and offset its total carbon emissions, as a result, neutralising its carbon footprint as a business.

James Phillips, Group Managing Director “Carbon Neutrality was firmly on our roadmap for 2022. We wanted to fully and accurately evidence to ourselves, our channel partners, and our customers that we are committed to running a sustainable business.

“We’ve fulfilled our biggest commitment to the environment to date and are extremely proud. Whilst we are delighted to be playing our part, it’s important for companies to recognise that Climate Change is a combined effort. We hope to see many more companies follow in the next 12-24 months.”

Carbon Neutral is defined as ‘making or resulting in no net release of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, especially as a result of carbon offsetting.’ Companies, processes, and products become carbon neutral when they calculate their carbon emissions and compensate for what they have produced via carbon offsetting projects.

According to Carbon Neutral Britain, businesses account for over 85 percent of total GHG emissions - prioritising corporate action in combatting climate change.

James Poynter, Director at Carbon Neutral Britain added, “We are delighted to partner with Lease Group Limited to help identify and offset their environmental impact from 2022 and beyond.”

Through the Carbon Neutral Britain Climate Fund, Lease Group Limited has offset its total carbon emissions through internationally certified carbon offsetting projects.
