As part of STAEDTLER’s year-long community programme, the company supported Family Engagement day in Caerphilly on 15th August which was attended by over 30 families.
The Family Engagement Day was run in association with Groundwork Wales’ health and wellbeing programme Go Green for Health (GG4H) and the Family Engagement Project (FEP) in Caerphilly. The day’s activities were provided by Groundwork Wales’ Sustainable Play team and GG4H, Caerphilly Adventure Group (CAG) and Communities First.
Activities included a treasure hunt, climbing wall, slip and slide, and bush craft skills, with participants of the treasure hunt receiving a goody bag from STAEDTLER (UK) Ltd. CAG also taught how to scale an artificial climbing wall, while the Communities First programme delivered a forest schools session on how to light fires, toast marshmallows and whittle sticks.
Faye Williams from Communities First said, “it was great to see the families working so well together; brothers and sisters spending quality time with their parents, helping and supporting each other to learn new skills.”
Gareth Evans from Groundwork’s GG4H Team added, “it was a pleasure to create an environment where the whole family can come together to have fun, but more importantly learn how to use the outdoors to strengthen family bonds.”
As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations, STAEDTLER is running an event every month during 2016 in association with environmental charity Groundwork Wales.
