• The future is mobile

        • “Develop’s ineo and ineo+ series of MFPs support mobile and cloud printing,” says DSales (UK) Product Manager, Wayne Snell

Mobile working habits are becoming increasingly commonplace in office environments. Smartphones and tablets have enabled new ways of working, yet numerous documents still need printing or scanning. In many companies this is only possible on a desktop PC, which forces mobile workers into a time consuming and inconvenient detour instead of printing or scanning directly from their mobile device.

In addition, recent news reports confirm that the way people are connecting to the internet has radically changed. By the end of 2014, 23.6 million people were using 4G mobile internet. A report by Ofcom says that smartphones have edged ahead of laptops for the first time as the preferred devices for connecting online, with 33 per cent of Britons opting for smartphones as the device of choice in 2014, ahead of 30 per cent who preferred laptops. Ofcom said the toppling of the laptop was a "landmark moment".

It is no surprise then that these trends are also migrating into the office environment, where users of smartphones and tablets also expect seamless integration into workflows for both printing and scanning of documents from their devices. Unrestricted and uncomplicated mobile usability is increasingly a must-have for office systems. This is why Develop embraced this change in work practice and developed a series of MFPs that have been designed for simple mobile integration.

Develop’s ineo and ineo+ series of MFPs support mobile and cloud printing via AirPrint (iPhones, iPods or iPad Touch), Mopria (devices running Android 4.4 or higher), Google Cloud Print and Wi-Fi Direct. This means that web pages, photos or PDFs can be printed on an ineo/+ via a WLAN network. What’s more, mobile workers can register the ineo/+ on their Google account and print from any location - provided the mobile device is connected to the internet.

The new ineo/+ series also supports NFC (Near Field Communication). This is the technology used in other industries for micro-payments, ticketing and cashless retail payments. For our MFPs, it offers Short Distance Data Exchange for pairing (IP Address / SSID / Password / Encryption Methods). The system’s NFC capability means a mobile device can even be used instead of an authentication card for secure access to the MFP system.

Develop ensures mobile devices can be used securely in an office environment. With access to secure printing, user authentication and account tracking functions ensured, users can work securely from both mobile and fixed locations. Security features such as IPsec, S/MIME email encryption and IP filtering ensure every form of system communication or document transfer is secure. All data stored on the system’s hard disk is protected from unauthorised access by data encryption technology and, if required, data erasure.

Additionally, Develop’s award winning ineoPrint App is free to download for both Android and iOS mobile operating systems for simple connection to the MFP by simply scanning a QR code.

The ineo/+ MFP series is therefore perfectly suited to the mobile workflows of today’s and tomorrow’s world.
